Playstation 3 Games will 'very likely' soon be available on the Playstation 4 says SONY

This generation we have seen plenty of games that were a blast-from-the-past. PlayStation 3 games were brought to PlayStation 4, while Xbox 360 titles got remastered for Xbox One.

We don’t yet know much about Microsoft’s future plans for remasters, but Sony says PS4 will likely get more. Speaking at Gamescom, SCEE boss Jim Ryan said:

We know that there are lots of PS4 owners that have either never played games before or used to have an Xbox or a Nintendo who have never had the chance to play something like the Uncharted trilogy. But it has to be a great game if we’re going to go to the trouble of re-mastering. I can’t talk specifically, but I think that it’s very likely that there’ll be more.

Microsoft is now more focused on delivering first party exclusives such as their upcoming Scale boundQuantum Break and Crackdown. Here’s the question (in bold) and his response. So yes, you do find a lot of third-party action games from us, and I do think we should be pushing harder on genre and control….I actually think it’s an industry issue. However, money is the ultimate factor when getting third-party publishers and, right now, Sony appears to be more willing to spend parts of its budget on various types of deals from timed DLC exclusives such as DestinyCall of Duty: Black Ops III and the many others it announced at E3 to full on exclusives such as Street Fighter V.

“Xbox is in a stretch where all its first-party teams are doing an incredible job”. My view is, there are some bellwether companies out there in terms of first-party games, like Nintendo, which has incredibly strong IP, and a breadth of characters and games to play, which allows them to do a great job in lighting up peoples’ interests. It’s based on what companies are willing to pay and what studios think their work is worth.
Furthermore there are also many consumers who are just beginning to buy the PlayStation 4 console, which means that numerous new generation purchasing the console have no idea of the classic titles that made Sony’s console what it is today.
I agree with Ryan on many PS4 users coming from Nintendo or Xbox platforms. However, in order to keep them loyal to the brand Sony should invest more in first-party stuff, rather than remasters.

Do you think Sony should release more remasters for PS4? If so, which games would you like to see?
